Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) — Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test, candidates must check the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Procedure & Criteria For Declaration Of Result

The following procedure and criteria are followed for the declaration of SET (State Eligibility Test) result as per the UGC notification (No. F.4–2/90(NET), Feb. 2018):

Step 1: Total qualifying slots The total qualifying slots are 6% of the candidates who appeared for both papers of the SET.

Step 2: Category-wise qualifying slots The total qualifying slots are allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of the Maharashtra state.

Step 3: Candidates fulfilling minimum eligibility subject-wise, category-wise To be considered eligible for the Assistant Professor position, candidates must have appeared for both papers and secured at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined for General category candidates and at least 35% aggregate marks in both papers combined for all candidates belonging to Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/DT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D)/SBC (Non-Creamy Layer only), Orphans, and PwD).

Step 4: Number of qualifying slots subject-wise for a particular category Candidates who fulfill Step 3 are considered to compute the qualifying slots subject-wise and category-wise.

Step 5: Qualifying cutoff % aggregate marks subject-wise, category-wise A merit list of candidates fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria (Step 3) is prepared subject-wise for a particular category. The % aggregate marks corresponding to the number of qualifying slots for a particular subject category-wise gives the qualifying cutoff % aggregate marks subject-wise category-wise.

Step 6: Number of candidates qualified subject-wise, category-wise The number of candidates who scored marks in both papers taken together, equal to or greater than the qualifying cutoff % aggregate marks in a particular subject category-wise gives the number of qualified candidates subject-wise category-wise.

It is important for candidates to enter their category and subject correctly in the online application form as the cutoff % marks for qualifying are linked with it. No requests for corrections will be entertained after the last date for editing the online application form.
